Qutaybah narrated to us; Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to us, from ‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb, from his father, from his grandfather: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Any man who has illicit intercourse with a free woman or a bondwoman, the child is born of zina; he neither inherits nor is inherited from.’ Abu ‘Isa said: Others besides Ibn Lahi‘ah also narrated this hadith from ‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb. Scholars act according to this report, holding that a child born of zina does not inherit from his father.
