Translation

Unreviewed translation. All hadiths in this collection are available in five languages. Titles and introductions may remain in Arabic.

Anas ibn Malik said that the Messenger of Allah told him: ‘My dear son, if you can reach the morning and evening with no ill will in your heart toward anyone, then do so.’ Then he said: ‘My dear son, that is part of my Sunnah. Whoever revives my Sunnah has loved me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise.’ The source notes that the hadith contains a longer story. Abu ‘Isa said: ‘This hadith is hasan gharīb through this route.’

Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah al-Ansari and his father are reliable. ‘Ali ibn Zayd is truthful, though at times he raises a report that others stop at a Companion. Muhammad ibn Bashshar said that Abu al-Walid reported Shu‘bah as saying: ‘We heard ‘Ali ibn Zayd; he was prone to raising reports.’ The only narration known from Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib from Anas is this hadith in its full form. ‘Abbad ibn Muyassarah al-Minqari narrated it from ‘Ali ibn Zayd from Anas without mentioning Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib.

Abu ‘Isa said: ‘I discussed this with Muhammad ibn Isma‘il, and he did not recognize it. No report from Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib from Anas is known to us besides this one. Anas ibn Malik died in the year 93 AH, and Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib died two years later, in 95 AH.’

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The source preserves several chain concerns: ‘Ali ibn Zayd sometimes raises reports others leave as Companion statements; the Sa‘id-from-Anas route is uniquely known; al-Bukhari did not recognize the report; and another route omits Sa‘id. The dates of Anas and Sa‘id’s deaths are included as given.
