Ibn Abi ‘Umar narrated to us; Sufyan narrated to us, from Husayn, from al-Sha‘bi, from ‘Imran ibn Husayn: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘There is no ruqyah except for the evil eye or a venomous bite or sting.’ Abu ‘Isa said: Shu‘bah narrated this hadith from Husayn, from al-Sha‘bi, from Buraydah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with the same wording.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The report uses a restrictive construction (‘no ruqyah except…’); it is translated literally without expanding its scope.
