Hannad narrated to us; Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Sa‘id ibn Masruq, from ‘Abayah ibn Rifa‘ah, from his grandfather Rafi‘ ibn Khadij, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: ‘Fever is a surge from the Fire, so cool it with water.’ Abu ‘Isa said: There are reports on this topic from Asma’ bint Abi Bakr, Ibn ‘Umar, the wife of al-Zubayr, ‘A’ishah, and Ibn ‘Abbas.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The source uses a metaphorical expression for fever and gives a direct instruction to cool it with water; no further medical guidance is added.
