Harun ibn Ishaq al-Hamdani narrated to us; ‘Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Hisham ibn ‘Urwah, from his father, from ‘A’ishah: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Fever is from the breath of Hell, so cool it with water.’
Harun ibn Ishaq narrated to us; ‘Abdah narrated to us, from Hisham ibn ‘Urwah, from Fatimah bint al-Mundhir, from Asma’ bint Abi Bakr, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with a similar report. Abu ‘Isa said: The report of Asma’ contains additional wording, and both hadiths are sahih.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The source gives two routes, first from ‘A’ishah and second from Asma’ bint Abi Bakr; the compiler says the Asma’ report has additional wording.
عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ،
The Arabic says that the Asma’ report contains more wording and that both reports are sahih; the English witness only summarizes a second chain.
Should these compiler details be included? They are retained from the Arabic.
