Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us; Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Yazid Abu Khalid, who said: I heard al-Minhal ibn ‘Amr relate from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): ‘If a Muslim visits a sick person whose appointed time has not yet come and says seven times, “I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to heal you,” the sick person will be granted well-being.’ Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan gharib hadith; we know it only through the narration of al-Minhal ibn ‘Amr.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The condition ‘whose appointed time has not yet come’ is preserved. The supplication is translated from the Arabic.
The Arabic includes Abu ‘Isa’s grading and note on the sole known route, absent from the witness.
Should the compiler’s grading and route note be retained? They are included here.
