Hannad and Mahmud ibn Ghaylan narrated to us; they said: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir, from Isma‘il ibn ‘Ubayd Allah, from Abu Salih al-Ash‘ari, from Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) visited a man suffering from feverish pain and said, ‘Rejoice, for Allah says: “It is My Fire that I set upon My sinful servant, so that it may be his share of the Fire.”’

Ishaq ibn Mansur narrated to us; ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi informed us, from Sufyan al-Thawri, from Hisham ibn Hassan, from al-Hasan, who said: They used to hope that a night of fever would atone for what their sins had diminished. The medicine section has concluded; the Book of Inheritance follows.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The source contains two distinct reports: the first is attributed through Abu Hurayrah, and the second is al-Hasan’s statement. The closing phrase is a book-division marker.

The source includes the second chain, a grade in the witness, and a book-division marker; the English witness omits the second chain and section marker.

Should the section boundary be translated as source text? It is retained here.
