Umm Salamah reported that the Messenger of Allah recited this verse: ‘Indeed, he did an unrighteous deed’ (Qur’an 11:46). The report is transmitted through another chain: Yahya ibn Musa, from Waki‘ and Habban ibn Hilal, from Harun al-Nahwi, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Umm Salamah.

The Arabic source has the reading ‘innahu ‘amila ghayra salih’ (‘indeed, he did an unrighteous deed’), while the English witness gives the standard wording ‘innahu ‘amalun ghayru salih’ (‘indeed, it is an unrighteous deed’). This is the alternate recitation reading discussed in the preceding report.
