Jabir reported that the Prophet forbade them from arriving at their women’s homes at night. There are reports on this topic from Anas, Ibn ‘Umar, and Ibn ‘Abbas. Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan sahih hadith, and it has been transmitted from the Prophet through more than one route from Jabir.

It is also reported from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet forbade them from arriving at their women’s homes at night. He said that two men came home at night after the Prophet’s prohibition, and each found a man with his wife.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The verb yatruqu refers to coming to or arriving at a home, commonly after travel; it does not itself say ‘returning from a journey’ in this wording. The final report is included from the Arabic, although omitted in the English witness.
