حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، عَنْ حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " إِذَا كَتَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ كِتَابًا فَلْيُتَرِّبْهُ فَإِنَّهُ أَنْجَحُ لِلْحَاجَةِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ . قَالَ وَحَمْزَةُ هُوَ عِنْدِي ابْنُ عَمْرٍو النَّصِيبِيُّ هُوَ ضَعِيفٌ فِي الْحَدِيثِ .

Jabir reported that Allah’s Messenger said: ‘When one of you writes a letter, let him dust it; that is more likely to help his need be fulfilled.’
Abu ‘Isa said: This is a munkar hadith. We know it from Abu al-Zubayr only through this route. He said: I believe Hamzah is Ibn ‘Amr al-Nasibi; he is weak in hadith.

The verb yutarrib means to apply dust; the witness explains this as drying the ink. The source explicitly grades the report munkar and identifies Hamzah as weak.
