حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، - بَصْرِيٌّ - حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَلاَ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ " . قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ " الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ " . قَالَ وَجَلَسَ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا قَالَ " وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ " . قَالَ فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ صَحِيحٌ .

‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah reported from his father that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Shall I tell you about the gravest of the major sins?’ They said, ‘Yes, Messenger of Allah.’ He said, ‘Associating partners with Allah and mistreating one’s parents.’ He sat up after having been reclining and said, ‘And false testimony’—or, ‘false speech.’ He kept repeating this until we said to ourselves, ‘If only he would stop.’’ Abu ‘Isa graded this hadith hasan gharib sahih.
