وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ، أَيْضًا حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ بُنْدَارٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، بِهَذَا قَالَ قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَازِبٍ مَاتَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهُمْ يَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُهَا قَالَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَكَيْفَ بِأَصْحَابِنَا الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يَشْرَبُونَهَا فَنَزَلَتْْ : ( لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ ) الآيَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .

Al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib reported: ‘Some of the Prophet’s Companions died while they had been drinking wine. When its prohibition was revealed, some Companions asked, “What about our companions who died while drinking it?” Then the verse was revealed: “There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they consumed…” (Qur’an 5:93).’ Abu ‘Isa graded this hadith hasan sahih and noted that Shu‘bah also narrated it from Abu Ishaq, from al-Bara’.
