حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْحُومٍ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " مَنْ تَرَكَ اللِّبَاسِ تَوَاضُعًا لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ دَعَاهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رُءُوسِ الْخَلاَئِقِ حَتَّى يُخَيِّرَهُ مِنْ أَىِّ حُلَلِ الإِيمَانِ شَاءَ يَلْبَسُهَا " . هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ . وَمَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ " حُلَلِ الإِيمَانِ " . يَعْنِي مَا يُعْطَى أَهْلُ الإِيمَانِ مِنْ حُلَلِ الْجَنَّةِ .

Sahl ibn Muadh ibn Anas al-Juhani reported from his father that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever gives up fine clothing out of humility toward Allah, while able to afford it, Allah will summon him on the Day of Resurrection before all creation and let him choose whichever garments of faith he wishes to wear.’ Abu Isa graded this hadith hasan. He explained that ‘garments of faith’ means the garments of Paradise given to the people of faith.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic says ‘clothing’ without a separate adjective for its value; ‘fine clothing’ follows the sense of giving it up while able to afford it, as reflected in the English witness.
Al-Tirmidhi explains ‘garments of faith’ as the garments of Paradise given to believers.
