Translation

Unreviewed translation. All hadiths in this collection are available in five languages. Titles and introductions may remain in Arabic.

Anas ibn Malik reported: ‘When the Prophet met a man and shook his hand, he would not withdraw his hand until the man withdrew his. He would not turn his face away until the man turned away, and he was never seen moving his knees ahead of someone seated with him.’ Abu Isa described this hadith as gharīb.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The final description is terse: the Arabic says he was not seen putting his knees forward in front of someone sitting with him; the translation preserves that image without inferring a specific posture.
