Abu al-Hawra al-Saadi said: ‘I asked al-Hasan ibn Ali what he remembered from the Messenger of Allah. He replied, “I remember the Messenger of Allah saying: Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt, for truth brings reassurance and falsehood brings doubt.”’ Abu Isa said there is a story associated with the hadith, identified Abu al-Hawra al-Saadi as Rabiah ibn Shayban, and graded the hadith hasan sahih. A second chain gives a similar report.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic mentions an associated story but does not include it in this source unit; no details of that story are supplied here.
The Arabic term ṭuma'nīnah conveys reassurance or settledness; ‘reassurance’ is used for natural English.
