حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَتَى وَجَبَتْ لَكَ النُّبُوَّةُ قَالَ " وَآدَمُ بَيْنَ الرُّوحِ وَالْجَسَدِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ مَيْسَرَةَ الْفَجْرِ .

Abu Hurayrah reported that people asked: ‘Messenger of Allah, when was prophethood decreed for you?’ He replied: ‘While Adam was between spirit and body.’ Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith from Abu Hurayrah; we know it only through this route. There is also a report on this subject from Maysarah al-Fajr.

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .
The English witness omits Abu ‘Isa’s grade, single-route note, and reference to the report from Maysarah al-Fajr.
