حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَبْرَأُ إِلَى كُلِّ خَلِيلٍ مِنْ خِلِّهِ وَلَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا خَلِيلاً لاَتَّخَذْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ خَلِيلاً وَإِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ خَلِيلُ اللَّهِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ .
Mahmud ibn Ghaylan narrated to us: ‘Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: al-Thawri reported to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from ‘Abdullah, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘I disavow every intimate friend from his intimate friendship. If I were to take an intimate friend, I would have taken Ibn Abi Quhafah as an intimate friend. Your companion is Allah’s intimate friend.’ Abu ‘Isa said: This is hasan sahih. Reports on this topic are also related from Abu Sa‘id, Abu Hurayrah, Ibn al-Zubayr, and Ibn ‘Abbas.
