حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلاَمَ بِأَحَبِّ هَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ إِلَيْكَ بِأَبِي جَهْلٍ أَوْ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ " . قَالَ وَكَانَ أَحَبَّهُمَا إِلَيْهِ عُمَرُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ .
Muhammad ibn Bashshar and Muhammad ibn Rafi‘ narrated to us: Abu ‘Amir al-‘Aqadi narrated to us: Kharijah ibn ‘Abdullah al-Ansari narrated to us, from Nafi‘, from Ibn ‘Umar, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘O Allah, strengthen Islam through the one of these two men who is dearer to You: Abu Jahl or ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab.’ The one dearer to Him was ‘Umar. Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith from Ibn ‘Umar.
