Translation

Unreviewed translation. All hadiths in this collection are available in five languages. Titles and introductions may remain in Arabic.

Sufyan al-Thawri and others narrated from Abu Ishaq, from Asim ibn Damrah, from Ali, who said: "Witr is not obligatory like the prescribed prayer, but it is a Sunnah established by the Messenger of Allah." Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated this to us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq. This is sounder than the hadith of Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash. Mansur ibn al-Mutamir also transmitted it from Abu Ishaq, similar to the narration of Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash.
