Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1721
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ غَفَلَةَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ خَطَبَ بِالْجَابِيَةِ فَقَالَ نَهَى نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الْحَرِيرِ إِلاَّ مَوْضِعَ أُصْبُعَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلاَثٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعٍ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .

Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us: Muadh ibn Hisham narrated to us: my father narrated to us, from Qatadah, from al-Sha‘bi, from Suwayd ibn Ghafalah, from Umar, that he delivered a sermon at al-Jabiyah and said: The Prophet of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade silk, except for an area the width of two fingers, or three, or four.
Abu Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih.
