حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، وَغَيْرُ، وَاحِدٍ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ كَانَ نَقْشُ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ثَلاَثَةَ أَسْطُرٍ مُحَمَّدٌ سَطْرٌ وَرَسُولُ سَطْرٌ وَاللَّهِ سَطْرٌ . وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى فِي حَدِيثِهِ ثَلاَثَةَ أَسْطُرٍ . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ .

Muhammad ibn Bashshar, Muhammad ibn Yahya, and more than one other narrated to us. They said: Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Ansari narrated to us: My father narrated to me, from Thumamah, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The inscription on the Prophet’s ring was three lines: ‘Muhammad’ on one line, ‘Messenger’ on one line, and ‘Allah’ on one line.
Muhammad ibn Yahya did not mention ‘three lines’ in his version. There is also a report on this subject from Ibn Umar.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The English witness starts at Anas and omits the Arabic chain and its multiple-transmitter framing. Unlike the preceding related report, this Arabic passage does not state a hadith grading; the English witness appends ‘hasan sahih gharib,’ which is not present here.

No hasan, sahih, or gharib grading appears in this Arabic passage; its final statement only says that a report on the subject comes from Ibn Umar.
