Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Yazid al-Rishk, from Abu al-Malih, from the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace), that he forbade the skins of predatory animals. This version is more sound.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The English witness begins at Abu al-Malih and omits the Arabic transmitters Muhammad ibn Bashshar, Muhammad ibn Ja‘far, Shu‘bah, and Yazid al-Rishk. The closing phrase says ‘this is more sound’ (wa hadha asahh), a comparative assessment of the report.

The English witness omits four transmitters preceding Abu al-Malih in the Arabic chain.
Can the English witness’s abbreviated isnad be confirmed as an intentional editorial choice?
