حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا مَشَتْ بِنَعْلٍ وَاحِدَةٍ . وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَكَذَا رَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ مَوْقُوفًا وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ .

Ahmad ibn Mani‘ narrated to us: Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, from ‘A’ishah, that she walked wearing one sandal. This is more sound. Abu ‘Isa said: This is how Sufyan al-Thawri and more than one narrator reported it from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, as a mawquf report (stopping at ‘A’ishah); this is more sound.

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَكَذَا رَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ مَوْقُوفًا وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ .
The witness presents ‘This is more correct’ before Abu ‘Isa’s explicit comment and leaves the first occurrence’s attribution unclear; the Arabic marks the first phrase separately before Abu ‘Isa’s statement.
Should the witness retain the separate first grading phrase as a standalone editorial note?
