Qutaybah narrated to us: Malik ibn Anas narrated to us, from Nafi, from Ibrahim ibn Abdullah ibn Hunayn, from his father, from Ali, who said: The Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade me to wear al-qassi and safflower-dyed cloth.
Abu Isa said: Reports on this subject are also related from Anas and Abdullah ibn Amr. The hadith of Ali is hasan sahih.

Al-qassi is retained in transliteration as a textile term. Al-mu‘asfar refers to cloth dyed with safflower (usfur).
