Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The English witness begins at Abdullah ibn Mughaffal and omits the preceding chain (Ali ibn Khashram, Isa ibn Yunus, Hisham, and al-Hasan). Tarajjul refers here to grooming or combing the hair; ghibban means at intervals, translated as every other day in the witness.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ،
The English witness omits four transmitters preceding Abdullah ibn Mughaffal in the Arabic chain.
Can the English witness’s abbreviated isnad be confirmed as an intentional editorial choice?
