Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us: Muadh ibn Hisham narrated to us: My father narrated to me, from Qatadah, from Abu al-Malih, that he disliked the skins of predatory animals.

Abu Isa said: We know no one who narrated from Abu al-Malih, from his father, except Sa‘id ibn Abi Arubah.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The English witness begins with ‘Another chain from Abu al-Malik,’ omitting Muhammad ibn Bashshar, Muadh ibn Hisham, his father, and Qatadah. It also calls the narrator Abu al-Malik; the supplied Arabic consistently says Abu al-Malih. The compiler’s comment concerns the variant attribution from Abu al-Malih, from his father.

  • حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ،

The English witness omits the named transmitters in the Arabic chain and renders Abu al-Malih as Abu al-Malik.

Is Abu al-Malik a typographical error for Abu al-Malih in the English witness?
