Ishaq ibn Musa al-Ansari narrated to us: Ma‘n narrated to us: Malik ibn Anas narrated to us, from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Salamah, from ‘A’ishah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about bit‘. He said, “Every drink that intoxicates is forbidden.”

Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • Bit‘ is a named drink; it is retained in transliteration because the witness provides no explanation and the source passage does not define it.

The English witness omits the full chain of transmission.

Please review the isnad supplied from Arabic.

The drink bit‘ is named but not defined in this passage.

Should bit‘ remain transliterated here without adding an identification not given in the source?
