حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ يَوْمُ الْحَجِّ الأَكْبَرِ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنَ الْحَدِيثِ الأَوَّلِ وَرِوَايَةُ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ مَوْقُوفًا أَصَحُّ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ مَرْفُوعًا . هَكَذَا رَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْحُفَّاظِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ مَوْقُوفًا . وَقَدْ رَوَى شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ مَوْقُوفًا .

ʿAlī said: ‘The Day of the Greater Pilgrimage is the Day of Sacrifice.’ Abū ʿĪsā said this version, which stops at ʿAlī, is more authentic than the previous report attributed to the Prophet. More than one hadith master narrated it as a statement of ʿAlī through Abū Isḥāq from al-Ḥārith. Shuʿbah also narrated it through ʿAbd Allāh ibn Murrah from al-Ḥārith from ʿAlī, likewise stopping at ʿAlī.
