حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ هِلاَلٍ الصَّوَّافُ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ طَافَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَإِذَا انْتَهَى إِلَى الرُّكْنِ أَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ . قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ وَأَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَقَدْ كَرِهَ قَوْمٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ يَطُوفَ الرَّجُلُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ رَاكِبًا إِلاَّ مِنْ عُذْرٍ . وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الشَّافِعِيِّ .

Bishr ibn Hilal al-Sawwaf al-Basri narrated to us: Abd al-Warith ibn Sa'id and Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi narrated to us, from Khalid al-Hadhdha', from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Prophet performed tawaf while riding his mount; whenever he reached the Corner, he gestured toward it.
There are reports on this topic from Jabir, Abu al-Tufayl, and Umm Salamah. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Ibn Abbas is hasan sahih. Some scholars disliked a man performing tawaf around the House and walking between Safa and Marwah while riding, unless he had an excuse. This is the view of al-Shafi'i.
