Ibn Abi Umar narrated to us: Waki' narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abd al-Malik, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from A'ishah, who said: The Prophet left me cheerful and content, but returned to me sad. I asked him about it, and he said, ‘I entered the Ka'bah, and I wish I had not done so, for I fear that I have burdened my community after me.’
Abu Isa said: This is a hasan sahih hadith.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Prophet's concern is that entering the Ka'bah might lead people to regard it as an expected practice.
