Qutaybah narrated to us: Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Alqamah ibn Abi Alqamah, from his mother, from A'ishah, who said: I wanted to enter the House and pray inside it. The Messenger of Allah took my hand and brought me into the Hijr, saying, ‘Pray in the Hijr if you wish to enter the House, for it is part of the House. Your people ran short of funds when they built the Ka'bah, so they left it outside the House.’
Abu Isa said: This is a hasan sahih hadith. Alqamah ibn Abi Alqamah was also known as Alqamah ibn Bilal.

The Hijr, also called al-Hatim, is the walled semicircular area adjoining the Ka'bah; the report describes it as part of the original House.
