Ibn Abi Umar narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, and Zakariyya ibn Abi Za'idah, from al-Sha'bi, from Urwah ibn Mudarris ibn Aws ibn Harithah ibn Lam al-Ta'i, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah at Muzdalifah as he was going out to pray. I said, ‘Messenger of Allah, I have come from the two mountains of Tayy. I have exhausted my mount and worn myself out. By Allah, I left no hill without standing on it. Is there still a Hajj for me?’ The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Whoever attends this prayer of ours, stands with us until we depart, and had already stood at Arafat before that, by night or day, has completed his Hajj and fulfilled its rites.’
Abu Isa said: This is a hasan sahih hadith. ‘Fulfilled its rites’ explains the word tafath. His statement, ‘I left no rope without standing on it,’ refers to a sandy ridge, which is called a habl; a rocky elevation is called a jabal.
