Qutaybah narrated to us: Malik ibn Anas narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: At al-Hudaybiyyah, we slaughtered a cow on behalf of seven people and a camel on behalf of seven people with the Prophet.

There are reports on this topic from Ibn Umar, Abu Hurayrah, A'ishah, and Ibn Abbas. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Jabir is hasan sahih. The scholars among the Prophet's Companions and others act on this, holding that a camel and a cow may each be shared by seven people. This is the view of Sufyan al-Thawri, al-Shafi'i, and Ahmad. A report from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet, says that a cow is for seven and a camel for ten. This is Ishaq's view, and he cited that hadith as evidence. We know the hadith of Ibn Abbas through only one route.
