Qutaybah narrated to us: al-Layth narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, from A'ishah, who said: I told the Messenger of Allah that Safiyyah bint Huyayy had begun menstruating during the days at Mina. He asked, ‘Will she keep us here?’ They replied, ‘She has already performed the Farewell Circumambulation.’ The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Then there is no delay.’

There are reports on this topic from Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas. Abu Isa said: The hadith of A'ishah is hasan sahih. Scholars act on this: if a woman has performed the circumambulation of visiting and then begins menstruating, she may depart and owes nothing. This is the view of al-Thawri, al-Shafi'i, Ahmad, and Ishaq.

  • The report distinguishes the circumambulation of visiting from the Farewell Circumambulation.
