Malik ibn Anas transmitted this hadith from Sayfi, from Abu al-Saib, the client of Hisham ibn Zuhrah, from Abu Said, from the Prophet; the report includes an incident. Al-Ansari narrated this to us, from Maan, from Malik. This is more sound than the hadith transmitted by Ubaydullah ibn Umar. Muhammad ibn Ajlan also narrated from Sayfi with wording similar to the narration of Malik.

This entry compares the transmission of the house-inhabitants report through Malik with the earlier route through Ubaydullah ibn Umar.
The compiler compares the chain through Malik with the prior version through Ubaydullah ibn Umar.
Does more sound clearly indicate the compiler is evaluating the transmission route?
