حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ خُلَيْدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم سُئِلَ عَنِ الْمِسْكِ فَقَالَ " هُوَ أَطْيَبُ طِيبِكُمْ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَحْمَدَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَقَدْ كَرِهَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ الْمِسْكَ لِلْمَيِّتِ . قَالَ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ الْمُسْتَمِرُّ بْنُ الرَّيَّانِ أَيْضًا عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم . قَالَ عَلِيٌّ قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْمُسْتَمِرُّ بْنُ الرَّيَّانِ ثِقَةٌ . قَالَ يَحْيَى خُلَيْدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثِقَةٌ .

The Prophet was asked about musk and replied: ‘It is the finest of your perfumes.’ The report is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ. Some scholars, including Aḥmad and Isḥāq, held this view, while others disliked using musk for the deceased. It was also narrated by al-Mustamir ibn al-Rayyān from Abū Naḍrah from Abū Saʿīd. Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd considered al-Mustamir reliable, as did Yaḥyā regarding Khulayḍ ibn Jaʿfar.
