Mahmud ibn Ghaylan narrated to us: Abu Dawud narrated to us; Shu'bah and al-Mas'udi informed us, from 'Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Abu al-Rabi', from Abu Hurairah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are four practices from the pre-Islamic era among my community that people will not abandon: wailing; disparaging people's lineages; contagion, such that one mangy camel infects a hundred camels—who made the first camel mangy?—and the stars, as in saying, 'We received rain due to such-and-such a star's setting.'" Abu Isa said: This is a hasan hadith.

The Arabic compresses the example about a mangy camel and uses al-anwa' for a pre-Islamic attribution of rain to stellar settings; the relation between the first camel and the rhetorical question is elliptical.

Does the translation preserve the intended scope of the camel example and al-anwa' without adding an explanation not stated in the Arabic?
