حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي جَنَازَةٍ فَرَأَى نَاسًا رُكْبَانًا فَقَالَ " أَلاَ تَسْتَحْيُونَ إِنَّ مَلاَئِكَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى أَقْدَامِهِمْ وَأَنْتُمْ عَلَى ظُهُورِ الدَّوَابِّ " . قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ وَجَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ ثَوْبَانَ قَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْهُ مَوْقُوفًا قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ الْمَوْقُوفُ مِنْهُ أَصَحُّ .

Ali ibn Hujr narrated to us: Isa ibn Yunus informed us, from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Maryam, from Rashid ibn Sa'd, from Thawban, who said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a funeral. He saw people riding and said: "Are you not ashamed? Allah's angels are on foot, while you are on the backs of riding animals." Reports on this topic are also related from al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah and Jabir ibn Samurah. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Thawban has also been transmitted as a statement of Thawban himself. Muhammad said: The version stopping at Thawban is more sound.
