حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ، يَقُولُ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي جَنَازَةِ أَبِي الدَّحْدَاحِ وَهُوَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ لَهُ يَسْعَى وَنَحْنُ حَوْلَهُ وَهُوَ يَتَوَقَّصُ بِهِ .

Mahmud ibn Ghaylan narrated to us: Abu Dawud narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Simak ibn Harb, who said: I heard Jabir ibn Samurah say: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the funeral of Abu al-Dahdah. He was on a horse of his, moving briskly, while we were around him, and he was riding at a quick, bounding pace.

The Arabic uses two movement expressions for the horse and its gait; the precise gait term may be rendered in more than one way.
Is 'quick, bounding pace' a suitable rendering of yatawaqqaṣu bihi in this context?
