Unreviewed translation. All hadiths in this collection are available in five languages. Titles and introductions may remain in Arabic.

Ali ibn Hujr narrated to us: Ali ibn Mushir informed us, from Muslim al-A'war, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit the sick, attend funerals, ride a donkey, and accept a slave's invitation. On the day of Banu Qurayzah, he was on a donkey bridled with a rope of palm fiber and fitted with a palm-fiber pack saddle. Abu Isa said: We know this hadith only through the report of Muslim from Anas. Muslim al-A'war is considered weak; he is Muslim ibn Kaysan al-Mula'i, whose reliability was discussed, though Shu'bah and Sufyan transmitted from him.

The Arabic names two simple pieces of riding equipment made from palm fiber, and the exact construction is not specified.

Are 'bridle' and 'pack saddle' sufficiently general for makhtum and ikaf in this context?
