Ali ibn Hujr narrated to us: Hiql ibn Ziyad informed us: al-Awza'i narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, who said: Abu Ibrahim al-Ash'ali narrated to me, from his father, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the funeral prayer, he would say: 'O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females.'
Yahya said: Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman narrated to me, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a similar report, with this addition: 'O Allah, whoever among us You keep alive, keep him alive upon Islam; and whoever among us You cause to die, cause him to die upon faith.' Reports on this topic are also related from Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, Aishah, Abu Qatadah, Awf ibn Malik, and Jabir. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Abu Ibrahim's father is hasan sahih. Hisham al-Dastawa'i and Ali ibn al-Mubarak transmitted this hadith from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman, from the Prophet, as a mursal report. Ikrimah ibn Ammar transmitted it from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salamah, from Aishah, from the Prophet. Ikrimah ibn Ammar's hadith is not preserved, and Ikrimah sometimes errs in reports from Yahya. It was also transmitted from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, from the Prophet. Abu Isa said: I heard Muhammad say: The soundest transmissions on this matter are the hadith of Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Ibrahim al-Ash'ali, from his father. I asked him Abu Ibrahim's name, but he did not know it.

The supplication distinguishes Islam and iman in parallel clauses; the translation preserves that lexical distinction without interpreting it.
Should Islam and faith be rendered as distinct terms here, or should both remain transliterated?
Mursal is a technical hadith term for a report whose chain omits an intermediary, and no explanation is included in the Arabic passage.
Should the technical term remain transliterated in the English translation?
