حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَرَأَ عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ . قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أُمِّ شَرِيكٍ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ لَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِذَلِكَ الْقَوِيِّ . إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ هُوَ أَبُو شَيْبَةَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ مُنْكَرُ الْحَدِيثِ . وَالصَّحِيحُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ الْقِرَاءَةُ عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ .

Ahmad ibn Mani' narrated to us: Zayd ibn Hubab narrated to us: Ibrahim ibn Uthman narrated to us, from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn Abbas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the Opening of the Book during the funeral prayer. A report on this topic is also related from Umm Sharik. Abu Isa said: The chain of the hadith of Ibn Abbas is not that strong. Ibrahim ibn Uthman is Abu Shaybah al-Wasiti, munkar al-hadith. What is soundly reported from Ibn Abbas is his statement: It is from the Sunnah to recite the Opening of the Book during the funeral prayer.
