Ahmad ibn Mani' narrated to us: Hushaym narrated to us: al-Shaybani informed us: al-Sha'bi narrated to us: Someone who had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed me that he saw a grave set apart from the others. He lined up his Companions behind him and performed the funeral prayer over it. He was asked, 'Who told you about this?' He replied, 'Ibn Abbas.' Reports on this topic are also related from Anas, Buraydah, Yazid ibn Thabit, Abu Hurairah, Amir ibn Rabi'ah, Abu Qatadah, and Sahl ibn Hunayf. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Ibn Abbas is hasan sahih. Most scholars among the Prophet's Companions and others act on this; this is the view of al-Shafi'i, Ahmad, and Ishaq. Some scholars said that the funeral prayer is not performed over a grave. This is the view of Malik ibn Anas. Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak said: If the deceased has been buried without the funeral prayer being performed over him, the prayer is performed at the grave. Ibn al-Mubarak considered prayer at the grave permissible. Ahmad and Ishaq said that prayer may be performed at the grave for up to a month. They said: The most we heard from Ibn al-Musayyab is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed at the grave of Umm Sa'd ibn Ubadah after a month.

The source describes a grave as muntabidh, a term suggesting it was isolated or apart; it does not specify how it was separated.
Is 'set apart from the others' an adequately neutral translation of muntabidh?
