حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ وَحُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، قَالَ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّ أَخَاكُمُ النَّجَاشِيَّ قَدْ مَاتَ فَقُومُوا فَصَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ " . قَالَ فَقُمْنَا فَصَفَفْنَا كَمَا يُصَفُّ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ وَصَلَّيْنَا عَلَيْهِ كَمَا يُصَلَّى عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَحُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ أَسِيدٍ وَجَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ . وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ أَبُو قِلاَبَةَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ . وَأَبُو الْمُهَلَّبِ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو وَيُقَالُ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو .

Abu Salamah, Yahya ibn Khalaf, and Humayd ibn Mas'adah narrated to us: They said: Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us: Yunus ibn Ubayd narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, from Abu al-Muhallab, from Imran ibn Husayn, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us, 'Your brother al-Najashi has died, so stand and pray over him.' We stood and formed rows as rows are formed for the deceased, and we prayed over him as prayer is performed for the deceased. Reports on this topic are also related from Abu Hurairah, Jabir ibn Abdullah, Abu Sa'id, Hudhayfah ibn Asid, and Jarir ibn Abdullah. Abu Isa said: This is a hasan sahih gharīb hadith through this route. Abu Qilabah also narrated it from his uncle Abu al-Muhallab, from Imran ibn Husayn. Abu al-Muhallab's name is Abd al-Rahman ibn Amr; it is also said to be Mu'awiyah ibn Amr.
