Ahmad ibn Mani' narrated to us: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us: Humayd informed us, from Anas, who said: A funeral procession passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and people spoke well of the deceased. The Messenger of Allah said: 'It is assured.' Then he said: 'You are Allah's witnesses on earth.' Reports on this topic are also related from Umar, Ka'b ibn Ujrah, and Abu Hurairah. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Anas is hasan sahih.

The Arabic says wajabat, leaving the implied outcome unstated in this sentence.

Should the English leave the outcome implicit, as in the Arabic, or supply a noun such as the deceased's merit?
