Aishah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: On the Day of Sacrifice, no deed a person performs is more beloved to Allah than shedding the blood of a sacrificial animal. It will come on the Day of Resurrection with its horns, hair, and hooves. Its blood reaches a place of acceptance with Allah before it falls to the ground, so be content with the sacrifice. Reports on this topic are also narrated from Imran ibn Husayn and Zayd ibn Arqam. Abu Isa said: This hadith is hasan gharib. We know it as a report of Hisham ibn Urwah only through this route. Abu al-Muthanna was named Sulayman ibn Yazid; Ibn Abi Fudayk narrated from him. Abu Isa also said: It is reported from the Messenger of Allah that the owner of a sacrificial animal receives a good deed for each hair. Another report says: with its horns.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The report says the animal will appear with its body parts on the Day of Resurrection; the phrase about blood reaching Allah is rendered as acceptance while retaining the temporal comparison.

The Arabic speaks of the blood reaching a place with Allah before reaching earth; acceptance conveys the devotional sense without a literal spatial implication.

Should this phrase be translated more literally or with the interpretive word acceptance?
