Ibn Umar said: I asked Bilal how the Prophet responded when people greeted him while he was praying. He said: He used to gesture with his hand. Abu Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih. The hadith of Suhayb is hasan; we know it only through the report of al-Layth from Bukayr. It is also reported from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Ibn Umar, who said: I asked Bilal how the Prophet acted when people greeted him in the mosque of Banu Amr ibn Awf. He said: He responded with a gesture. Both reports are sound in my view, because the events in the hadith of Suhayb and the hadith of Bilal are different. Although Ibn Umar narrated from both of them, it is possible that he heard from them both.
