Al-Fadl ibn Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah said: "Prayer is two by two; sit for tashahhud after every two rakahs, and pray with humility, earnest supplication, neediness, and submission. Extend your hands," meaning raise them toward your Lord, with their palms facing your face, and say: O Lord, O Lord. Whoever does not do that is so and so." Abu Isa said: Other than Ibn al-Mubarak, narrators transmitted this hadith with the wording: "Whoever does not do that, his prayer is deficient." Abu Isa said: I heard Muhammad ibn Ismail say: Shubah transmitted this hadith from Abd Rabbih ibn Said and made errors in several places. He said Anas ibn Abi Anas, but it is Imran ibn Abi Anas; he said Abdullah ibn al-Harith, but it is Abdullah ibn Nafi ibn al-Amya, from Rabiah ibn al-Harith. Shubah said from Abdullah ibn al-Harith, from al-Muttalib, from the Prophet, but it is from Rabiah ibn al-Harith ibn Abd al-Muttalib, from al-Fadl ibn Abbas, from the Prophet. Muhammad said: The hadith of al-Layth ibn Sad is sounder than the hadith of Shubah.
