Jabir said: We were with the Prophet on a journey when rain fell upon us. The Prophet said: "Whoever wishes may pray in his lodging." Reports on this topic are also narrated from Ibn Umar, Samurah, Abu al-Malih from his father, and Abd al-Rahman ibn Samurah. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Jabir is hasan sahih. Scholars allowed missing the congregational and Friday prayers because of rain and mud; Ahmad and Ishaq held this view. Abu Isa said: I heard Abu Zurah say that Affan ibn Muslim narrated a hadith from Amr ibn Ali. Abu Zurah said: In Basrah, we have seen none with better memory than these three: Ali ibn al-Madini, Ibn al-Shadhakuni, and Amr ibn Ali. Abu al-Malih was named Amir; it is also said he was Zayd ibn Usamah ibn Umayr al-Hudhali.
