Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever has not prayed the two rakahs before dawn may pray them after the sun has risen." Abu Isa said: This hadith is gharib; we know it only through this chain. It is reported that Ibn Umar did this. Some scholars acted on it; this was the view of Sufyan al-Thawri, Ibn al-Mubarak, al-Shafii, Ahmad, and Ishaq. Abu Isa said: We know no one who narrated a report like this from Hammam with this chain except Amr ibn Asim al-Kilabi. The well-known report from Qatadah, from al-Nadr ibn Anas, from Bashir ibn Nahik, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet is: "Whoever catches one rakah of the dawn prayer before the sun rises has caught the dawn prayer."
